Pretec Demonstrates 1TB SSD- The Era of Tera Bytes SSD Has Come

"Taipei, Taiwan June 2nd, 2009 - Pretec, the flash pioneer to offer world's largest capacity SSD (Solid State Disk) such as CompactFlash card (64MB ~ 100GB) since 1996, today demonstrates the world's first commercially available 1TB (1024GB) SSD, at Computex Taipei 2009 (Nangang Exhibition Hall, Booth # K110, K209, K114, K213).

Pretec T-SATA series is one of the largest capacities and highest performance SSD in the world. With capacity ranging from 256GB, 512GB,1TB and 1.6TB (by special custom-design) featuring maximum Read/Write speed of up to 230MB/s, T-SATA ushers the new era of Tera Bytes SSD. Consisting of 4 units of 2.5" SATA SSD, with RAID 0 and RAID 1 support in an external enclosure of 103.1mm (L) X 139.7mm (W) X 70mm (H) platform, the demonstration unit of Pretec 1TB T-SATA is using eSATA interface working in blazing speed with Notebook PC. As Pretec is the first one in the world to implement "Power Over eSATA" specification like Pretec Cobra series of eSATA/USB product lines, which does not require external power supply like those traditional eSATA interface.

Pretec has introduced the SRAM-based 64KB SSD and NOR Flash-based Linear Flash 256KB SSD in 1993, before the NAND flash commercially available in the market. Today Pretec is the leading SRAM and Linear Flash SSD provider in the world with maximum capacities of 16MB (SRAM) and 64MB (Linear flash), which are all for industrial applications, not only used as the purpose of industrial storage, but also used as the main or extended memory capable of "eXecute In Place (XIP)". Although Pretec is the 2nd company in the world offering CompactFlash card (2MB and 4MB) in 1996, Pretec is the 1st company in the world to implement in NAND Flash technology (SanDisk was using Serial-NOR based proprietary technology in 1996). From 64KB SSD in 1993, to 2MB CF card in 1996, 100GB CF card in 2009, and 1TB SSD in 2009, the history of growth of Pretec SSD capacity represents the growth of Flash industry.

Pretec 1TB SSD is priced at $9999 (same price with Pretec's 12GB CF card in 2004, http://www.imaging-resource.com/NEWS/1083344552.html *), with samples available by the end of this month and mass delivery starts from July 2009.
