Pretec Ships the Highest Speed & Highest Capacity USB Flash Drive in World

"Taipei, Taiwan June 2nd, 2009 -Pretec, the flash pioneer to offer the fastest USB flash drive (166X and 233X), the fastest CF card (433X and 667X), fastest SD card (SDHC and SDXC), and CFast (up to 160MB/s) since 1993, continues its tradition to offer the fastest USB flash drive in the world, at Computex Taipei 2009 (Nangang Exhibition Hall, Booth # K110, K209, K114, K213).

The convenient and ubiquitous USB interface has been widely adopted by PC industry for decades, however, due to the limitation of the overhead of the USB specification version 2.0, the actual transfer speed of USB 2.0 is rarely approach 40MB/s although the theoretic maximum speed is up to 60MB/s. New Pretec i-Disk Tango 233X/266X can achieve unparalleled Read/Write speed of up to 40/30 MB/s for the 1st time in flash industry. Such speed is approaching the realistic limit of USB 2.0 and will only be surpassed by the new USB interface version 3.0 by next year.

In an effort to boost the capacity and performance bottle-neck, Pretec has jointed with ITRI (Industrial Technology Research Institute) and a few other companies in Taiwan, to come up with Mu-Card specification in 2004 (www.dvhardware.net/article3774.html), in which the transfer speed can reach 120MB/s. Mu-Card Alliance was subsequently merged with MMC Association, which in turn is part of JEDEC organization.

By employing massive parallelism of Quad-channel flash technology and sophisticated wear-leveling, interleaving, and dynamic allocation techniques, Pretec 128GB i-Disk Tango 233X/266X is the largest capacity USB flash drive in the world, and simultaneously the fastest USB flash drive in the world. 64GB i-Disk Tango 233X/266X has been shipping, and 128GB version will be sampling by end of this month.
