Pretec Demonstrates MMC 4.0-The World's Fastest Flash Memory Card

"Taipei, Taiwan, June 1, 2004 - Pretec Electronics Corp., the global leading company offering flash memory cards since 1995, is demonstrating the world's No. 1 MMC 4.0 flash memory cards with read speed about 150X (22.5MB/s) and write speed greater than 120X (18MB/s), which is regarded as the fastest-speed small form factor flash memory cards today, at COMPUTEX TAIPEI 2004, Hall 4 # T101A.
Compatible with most Secure Digital (SD) slots used by mobile phones, digital cameras, and other portable digital devices, MMC (MultiMediaCard) is one of the most popular memory cards in the world. MMC version 4.0 is the most recent specification released by MMCA (http://www.mmca.org/). With a maximum transfer rate up to 20 times of today's MMC and 4 times faster than today's SD cards, MMC 4.0 comes with no royalties even for such high-speed interface. In addition, Pretec also offers Reduced-Size (RS) MMC 4.0, measured at 18mmX24mmX1.4mm only, which is 44% smaller area than SD cards and 62% smaller volume than SD cards.
