Tera/Tera - Pretec Debuts World’s 1st 1TB SSD and World’s 1st 1TB Mobile HDD

Taipei, Taiwan June 2nd, 2010 - Pretec, the flash pioneer to offer world's largest capacity CompactFlash card (64MB ~ 128GB) since 1996 and CFast (32GB ~ 128GB) since 2009, today debuts the world’s first 1TB (1024GB) SSD in 2.5” SATA II format, and the world’s first 1TB mobile Hard Disk Drive in 2.5” dimension with USB 3.0 interface at Computex Taipei 2010 (Nangang Exhibition Hall, Booth J317a ).

Pretec M2100 SATA II series SSD can achieve the capacity of 1TB with Read/Write speed of up to 230/170 MB/s using MLC flash technology, in a 2.5” single board enclosure, is the highest capacity SSD in the world in its class. 1TB SSD was implemented by Pretec last year with T-SATA, consists of 4 units of 2.5” SATA SSD, with RAID 0 and RAID 1 support, in an external enclosure of 103.1mm (L) X 139.7mm (W) X 70mm (H) platform. A total of 4TB SSD can be achieved by using Pretec M2100 1TB SSD and in T-SATA form factor. With suggested retail price of US$2999, Pretec M2100 1TB will start sampling by next month.

Pretec USB 3.0 mobile HDD can achieve the capacity of 1TB with Read/Write speed of up to 82/80 MB/s using 5200 rpm hard disk drive technology, in a 2.5” enclosure, is the highest capacity mobile HDD in the world in its class. The new advanced format of 4K is adopted to all of Pretec high capacity mobile HDD, which is transparent to most users, except Windows XP users, in which an easy-to-use driver is needed. With suggested retail price of US$299, Pretec 1TB USB 3.0 HDD will start sampling by next month.

Also introduced in Computex 2010, Pretec’s P4000 SSD is the fastest 2.5” SATA II SSD in the world (up to 512GB now), capable of reaching up to 300MB/s Read/Write speed. Pretec 1TB version of P4000 will be introduced in Q4 of this year.
